The Awesome Aaron Taylor-Johnson

If you’re going to talk about Kick-Ass, you have to talk about the character himself. As phenomenal as all the side characters were in this movie, the star has to shine as well. Aaron Taylor-Johnson did just that.

Taylor-Johnson had the difficult job of playing a character that many people didn’t know about and had to make the audience care about him. He did it with ease. We loved Dave Lizewski.

He was an underdog. A guy who just wanted to make a difference in a world where no one cared. Sure, it was a bit irresponsible buying a costume and some weapons you’ve never used can get you killed. Thankfully, it worked out for him in the end. He became a hero and saved lives.

Looking back, Aaron Taylor-Johnson deserves more credit than he’s given. His character often gets lost when thinking of big personalities like Frank D’Amico, Hit-Girl, and Big Daddy. Still, he did a great job.

Kick-Ass was everything we wanted him to be and more. He maintained the lovable qualities about him while growing as the movie went on. He was still a “loser” to people who didn’t respect him. However, to everyone else, he became a rock-star hero who helped take down a crime boss.
