3. Batman: Under the Red Hood

Adapted from the Under the Hood storyline in the comics, Batman: Under the Red Hood is the probably the best animated film that DC has released other than Mask of the Phantasm. It has everything that you could ever want a Batman story to have: Mystery, intrigue, interesting characters, and great action. And we get to see Black Mask being treated horribly, which is always great.

Pretty much everything about this film is a masterclass. From the excellent voice acting by Bruce Greenwood and Jensen Ackles, to the gorgeous animation (which is almost a combination of Batman: The Animated Series, Young Justice, and The Batman), everything comes together perfectly here.

Every technical aspect of the film, every emotional aspect, every performance, all of it comes together like peanut butter and chocolate. Yup, Under the Red Hood will suck you in immediately with its brutal opening and not let go until the credits roll.

This writer won’t spoil anything even though most people reading probably know the twists already, but he will say this: Even after multiple viewings, the film never loses its punches, especially in the final act. Every time you watch it, it hits you right in the gut. And, for first time viewers who don’t know anything about the film, it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
