Batwoman’s first season has taken a hiatus from The CW, so when can we expect it to return?

Batwoman is currently airing its debut season on The CW. The latest offering in the network’s highly successful Arrowverse franchise, it initially received mixed reviews from critics – which ultimately got more positive as its run continued.

The show follows the return of Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) to Gotham City, after she discovers that her beloved ex-girlfriend Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy) was abducted by new villainess Alice (Rachel Skarsten).

The first season, however, has revealed that things were a lot more personal than they initially appeared to be, as Alice is actually Kate’s long-lost twin sister Beth Kane. And as much as she’s tried to help her sister, it’s quickly become clear that Alice isn’t the same girl that Beth once was.

Through Alice’s treachery – and Gotham’s knack for evil supervillains – Kate has taken it upon herself to protect the city from harm and, as a result, she has become its new hero: Batwoman.

The latest episodes of the season have seen it take some unexpected turns as fans have discovered that Alice is a lot more multi-faceted than any of the other characters thought and that realization ultimately allowed the show to introduce Arkham Asylum.

The next episode, “A Narrow Escape”, will be both a Batwoman and Alice-centric episode as the sisters are tested in their own respective ways.

Check out The CW’s official synopsis below:

"“Batwoman encounters a new challenge when an old villain resurfaces; Alice’s limits are tested.”"

The seventeenth episode of the season, it was initially supposed to air on Sunday, March 29, but after the production on most of The CW’s Arrowverse shows shut down due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the network has had to do a lot of rescheduling.

However, the Bat is back sooner rather than later, as Batwoman returns to The CW on Sunday, April 26, at 8:00 p.m. ET. with “A Narrow Escape” – an episode that will see Kate and Alice pushed past their limitations and Luke Fox rise up to protect Gotham.
