This Sunday, a new episode of Supergirl season 5 airs on The CW. The veteran Arrowverse series has been off screens for a long time and now it is back for a new installment.
Supergirl‘s fifth season has seen the Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) dance with a new form of evil in Leviathan. Bubbling away under the surface, the ancient organization has attempted to announce its dominance to the world in ways that it never had before, but Kara Danvers and her team of Super Friends weren’t about to let that happen.
Things took another interesting turn when Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) resurfaced thanks to a pre-Crisis On Infinite Earths assist from The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) and used the Book of Destiny and the Crisis itself to rewrite reality so that he would be perceived as a hero.

That will carry on as the returning episode, “Deus Lex Machina” (which is directed by Melissa Benoist herself), will delve into how Lex managed to turn the tide in a post-Crisis world to become this apparent hero to the people.
This episode was initially expected to air weeks ago, but Supergirl was forced to take an unexpected lengthy hiatus when production on the show in Vancouver had to be shut down due to the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Though production on the season couldn’t be completed, The CW will be airing the remaining finished episodes.
