Riverdale season 5 date: When does Riverdale return?

Riverdale season 4 came to a jaw-dropping conclusion in its finale episode, but when does the show return to our screens?

Riverdale season 4 has officially come to an end. Like its predecessors, it has been a never-ending display of twists and unforeseen turns as the show stunned its viewers to disbelief with its shocking moments and illogical plot developments in what was undoubtedly an unforgettable installment.

The Archie Comics TV series has spent much of this year turning the lives of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) upside down in ways that it never had before.

But after temporarily killing off Jughead (following his transfer to Stonewall Prep), bringing Jug back from the dead, having Archie set up a youth center and kick off one of the most controversial narratives in recent memory, Riverdale season 4 came to a shocking end in this week’s 19th episode “Killing Mr. Honey”.

The show was supposed to run for its usual 22 episodes, but due to the fact that it had to shut down production amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the cast and crew were only able to complete 19 of the planned 22 installments. Now that means the show will be off screens for quite some time.

Normally, the show would resume production in late July and the next season would hit screens in October, but due to COVID-19, it’s hard to call how things will go down in terms of a return date. For that very reason, everything remains up in the air right now.
