3. Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke didn’t play a one-note character in Game of Thrones. Daenerys Targaryen started out as a scared young woman who forged her own path to becoming a powerful and confident leader. It wasn’t instantaneous – she evolved throughout the series. Then, she ended the series as a villain who burned a town and killed hundreds while she did it. This right here shows that Clarke has the range it takes to play Veranke.

A flashback to her youth could show a teenage Veranke who ends up seeing atrocities that lead her to becoming a leader – another role where the actress goes from timid to destructive. The actress is more than talented enough to play the Skrull Queen and perhaps even another Marvel Comics character while she’s at it.

2. Janelle Monáe

Let’s start off by saying this: There is nothing that Janelle Monáe can’t do. Singer, dancer, actor… and she’s amazing at all three of those things.

It goes without saying that she rocked in Hidden Figures and Moonlight. But we haven’t really seen her in a major action role just yet. The good news is her career is just starting.

Monáe could offer a different kind of Skrull Queen for the MCU – one with a little more seduction to lure in her victims and then punish them. She’s also another actress on this list who can easily pull off menacing. On a few occasions, Janelle Monáe has given off a look that screams “I’m not the person you want to trifle with.” And with that, she could very well embody the role better than anyone else in this article.
