X-Men: The 20 best characters of the last decade
By Mark Lynch
8. Storm
Unlike everyone else in the top 10, Storm didn’t have one huge moment in Marvel Comics. What she had was a bunch of incredibly strong ones.
Storm spent a lot of time doing different things for different people. After Avengers VS X-Men, she joined the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Alongside Logan, she helped teach the next generation of mutants. After Logan died, we saw why she’s an omega level mutant. She cried so hard that Beast had to take her to space. When she could finally be emotional, she caused a storm that went across the world. With all her emotions over her love’s death, she still ran the school.
Storm has been a major part of T’Challa’s life as well. They may not have been married any longer, but T’Challa could still call on her in his time of need. There were multiple times where he needed Storm to help him defeat an enemy in Wakanda. Storm came to his side immediately. Recently, Shuri called on her to help while T’Challa was lost in space. Again, Storm was there without hesitation.
Now, Storm is part of the Quiet Council of Krakoa sitting at a table with Nightcrawler and Jean Grey. She may be the most capable of everyone on the Council. She knows what it’s like to have to make tough decisions – her time in Wakanda helped her with that. She became a better leader. This was on display when she announced her friends were being resurrected after their mission. She’s always been a leader, but this was different. She reveled in speaking to her race.
