X-Men: The 20 best characters of the last decade
By Mark Lynch
6. Moira MacTaggert
Forget everything you know about Moira MacTaggert from the early X-Men comics. In one summer, she changed the past and future of the X-Men. She even created some timelines as well.
During the House of X No. 2, we find out Moira is a mutant. She has the power of resurrection. Whenever she dies, she’s reborn at the beginning in her mother’s belly; the kicker is she remembers everything from her past life. After trying multiple times to change the future for mutants, she settles on the one we are currently seeing – one where mutants have their own island nation and diplomatic status.
What Moira did was so important that she had to break the top 10. Everything she did reshaped the Marvel Comics universe.
Everyone from the Avengers to the Fantastic Four are concerned about what’s going on with the X-Men. The problem is the mutants are right. After being treated poorly for so long, they’ve decided to stop getting punched in the face by the world. Unfortunately, there is a problem: Three people know about her and what she did. Professor Xavier, Magneto, and Mystique. However, Xavier and Magneto don’t know that she’s aware of what happened.
Whatever happens to Moira in the future is going to dramatically affect the X-Men’s future.
