19. Multiple Man

A lot about Jamie Madrox getting better started before 2010. The good news is that momentum and improvement carried over.

Jamie “The Multiple Man” Madrox was just a guy who could turn into more guys. No special skills other than experience. Then, he became a skilled changeling (not quite a mutant) and a leader – someone his teammates and the X-Men could look to in their time of need.

Things started to look down towards the end of his run. In fact, they looked downright dreary. His team was breaking up and he was turned into a demonic pawn of Mephisto. With the help of the newly-made god Theresa Rourke Cassidy and his love for Layla Miller, Madrox reverted back to normal. Well, normal for a guy who can make duplicates of himself.

In 2019, Matthew Rosenberg wrote a five part mini-series bringing Jamie Madrox back to life. After that, he was a crucial part of Legion ‘s plan to defeat X-Man during Uncanny X-Men. Later he helped keep Wolverine safe so Logan could kill General Robert Callahan. Since then he hasn’t had a lot of big moments. Hopefully this will change. He’s come a long way to go back to obscurity. It would be nice to see him go back to being a detective.
