X-Men: The 20 best characters of the last decade
By Mark Lynch
18. Monet St. Croix
Monet St.Croix has all the best powers. She has flight, super-strength, invulnerability, and telepathy. Seriously, she has all the abilities anyone could want. To top it off, she’s rich. It would make sense that she would be a bit arrogant at times.
Monet has been a good character for a while. A hero who has literally died to help out the people she loves. Thankfully, she had a friend in Hell to send her home.
During a stint with Magneto’s X-Men, Monet St. Croix went through a transformation. She transformed back to her evil Emplate self. Sabretooth was helping her feed, but he eventually left to pursue other things. Monet went on to feed off Morlocks and tried to do the same to some of the X-Men. Thankfully, Monet was saved by some of the younger X-Men.
During the Powers of X and House of X series, we saw that she can still change into her Emplate form if needed. This time, she has more control over it.
Monet is underrated. She has a ton of layers to her and it seems like Marvel is starting to notice. Over the past decade, we’ve been seeing more of her. And not just the arrogant side. We’re seeing the same layers she had during X-Factor Investigations. The fact that she was selected to help Cyclops’ team during House of X suggests that they have plans for her in the future.
