10 must-read comic books for the return of Marvel Comics

5. Hawkeye: Freefall
Writer: Matthew Rosenberg
Hawkeye is often looked at as “kind of an Avenger” by some heroes and villains – even though he’s fought side-by-side with the greatest heroes in the universe, defeated some of the scariest and most brutal villains including mystical beings, aliens, and literal gods. No matter how many times he’s come through in the clutch, it doesn’t seem like it’s enough. Nonetheless, Clint Barton refuses to let any of that get him down. He’s still a hero and a man of the people. This is a story about all of that and more.
Matt Rosenberg starts Hawkeye: Freefall with Clint taking on The Hood and a bunch of his goons. After they’re captured, they get off with ease (shocking). Then, out of nowhere, Ronin shows up and beats up a bunch of criminals. As Clint was once Ronin, everyone assumes it’s him. Clint denies it, but the evidence doesn’t exact back him up.
This mini-series is just plain fun. Matt Rosenberg has a way of telling entertaining and intriguing tales. This is a Hawkeye story on the level of Matt Fraction’s run. Clint is a lover, friend, great fighter, and, at times, an arrogant idiot that gets in over his head. This is a six part series that ends in July. Definitely worth purchasing.
