The chairman of The CW has confirmed what the next Arrowverse crossover will be, and it’s really quite unexpected. However, it’s also amazing.

With the world in a state of unrest due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, things are very much up in the air right now in a lot of areas. Another thing up in the air also happens to be the 2020-21 TV schedule.

In the superhero world, fans will remember that The CW’s Arrowverse shows (as well as Riverdale) were forced to shut production down early, cutting each of their respective seasons short. And now, those shows won’t be returning to screens until January 2021 at the earliest.

While that means that The FlashSupergirlBatwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and newcomer Superman & Lois won’t be able to host their annual Arrowverse crossover in December, it doesn’t mean there won’t be a crossover… quite the opposite in fact.

As TVLine confirmed, CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowtiz revealed that it “will not happen in December, but it will happen, hopefully, first or second quarter of 2021”. However, there’s going to be quite the change in store, as he also commented:

"“We’re only planning a two-hour event. We’re talking about doing Superman [& Lois] and Batwoman together, with a lot of characters coming [in] from our other shows.”"

According to TVLine, the two-hour event between relative newcomer Batwoman and new arrival Superman & Lois will probably take place in the two-hour Sunday night block. Though it will only take place across both shows, it does sound like there will be more characters involved than just the aforementioned titular heroes Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch).

More from Arrowverse

With that in mind, don’t be surprised if we see Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, Grant Gustin’s Flash and some of the Legends of Tomorrow pop up throughout it as well.

With so many changes to the Arrowverse schedule, fans are still holding out hope that Arrow spin-off Green Arrow and The Canaries will be picked up by the network as Pedowtiz recently confirmed that talks are still ongoing for the “very much alive” series.

Next. Green Arrow and The Canaries is the Arrow sequel we deserve. dark
