3. He has the right experience for the role

Keanu Reeves’ past doesn’t just define his career, it speaks volumes to his character and his experience within the industry. Fans sometimes think that actors read a script, then horse around with the lines on set, shoot the scene, then go home. Absolutely not, in fact, actors have to become the very character they are cast to play.

Marc Spector, Moon Knight, started out as a mercenary with decades of experience as a weapons expert, hand-to-hand combat expert, as well as military knowledge. In order to play this role seriously and convince us that Moon Knight is for real, we have to believe he can convey these decades of this experience on camera.

Keanu Reeves has over a dozen action films to his name. According to martialtribes.com, he spent months upon months training in the styles and techniques of jiu-jitsu, krav maga, judo, karate, boxing, and wushu. These skills gave him the competency to play the role of Neo in The Matrix trilogy.

If his action movies from the late ’90s aren’t a testament to his skill level how about the trilogy that pulled him back into the mainstream? John Wick is one of the most recent action-thriller movie trilogies to date full of choreographed mastery and weapon specialist stunts. All this experience and more in the wheelhouse of Moon Knight has been Keanu’s life since his career began. He’d more than capable of pulling it off.
