Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz has shown interest in playing Kate Kane on The CW’s Batwoman after Ruby Rose’s departure from the role.

It was recently reported that Ruby Rose won’t be returning to play Kate Kane in the CW’s Batwoman. A shocking turn of events, fans of the show are undoubtedly saddened by her departure.

Rose brought a level of grit to the role that embodied the Kate Kane character. The good news is that the show must go on.

Batwoman has already been renewed for a second season which will still air, so they’ll be recasting the character. Warner Brothers and Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti have stated that they plan on casting another LQBTQ actor to play the titular character. And after the news of Ruby Rose departing Batwoman broke, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz let everyone know that she wants to be first in line to play Batwoman.

Eight months ago, Beatriz told the world that she wanted to play She-Hulk. During an interview with ET she said she “would die to play She-Hulk.”  After the news of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman departure was announced, Beatriz went to Twitter to make her intentions clear – as you can see above. When Ella Cerón told her to go method, Beatriz replied, telling her that she “legit did dye [her] hair red last month.” If she’s already doing the studying for the role, she has my vote.

Stephanie Beatriz clearly wants to play a comic book character. Her previous comments about potentially playing She-Hulk and her latest in regards to Batwoman certainly highlight her passion. She’s also a member of the LGBTQ community, and we’ve seen that she can play tough, serious, and stubborn – all qualities needed to play both Kate Kane and her Scarlet Knight.

We’ll have to wait and see who gets selected. Rest assured, Bam Smack Pow will be here to report the news whenever it’s announced.
