Legends of Tomorrow EP confirms that this Legend won’t be back for season 6
Legends of Tomorrow EP has confirmed that this particular Legend won’t be returning for the show’s sixth season.
Legends of Tomorrow‘s fifth season bowed out with every bit of the reckless abandon that we’ve come to expect from the wacky adventure. An episode that saw the Arrowverse‘s Waverider crew battle Atropos and Lachesis in order to save humanity from the Loom of Fate’s grip, it brought an end to the season’s ambitious storyline in gloriously over-the-top fashion.
As we’ve also come to expect from Legends, however, “Swan Thong” witnessed the departure of two beloved characters. The first was the original timeline’s Zari, who returned to the Air Totem so that her brother Behrad would live, and the second was Fate and shapeshifter Charlie who stayed behind in 1970s London.
As Zari 2.0./Influencer Zari/New Zari remained aboard the Waverider, you can bet that Tala Ashe will be remaining on the show in her typical series regular capacity, but it appears that we can’t say the same about Maisie Richardson-Sellers as the Legends EP has confirmed that she has indeed left the show.
Speaking to TVLine, co-showrunner Phil Klemmer revealed that the actress’ departure was in the works for over a year, adding:
"“We knew that [Maisie] was wanting to make her mark as a filmmaker on her own, and so that allowed us to craft a story that would, hopefully, make for a satisfying conclusion. The finale was sort of all about her. For me, it’s so bittersweet, bringing it back to that punk club and The Smell… The good thing is that people are allowed to come back and have come back.”"
The actress has been a part of Legends since the season 2 premiere. She initially portrayed the Justice Society of America’s Vixen, Amaya Jiwe, for the whole of the second and third seasons.

Amaya became incredibly popular during her stint on the show, with her ties to the present-day Vixen and her affection for Nate Heywood becoming some of Legends‘ most engaging storylines.
After Amaya left the show in the Season 3 finale, Sellers returned as Charlie – a shapeshifter who took on the appearance of Amaya just as she had her abilities stalled by John Constantine. And after that, Charlie also became an integral part of the Legends, regaining her powers but keeping Amaya’s appearance.
A veteran of the show, Legends will undoubtedly miss Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ presence, but this writer can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next!
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will now embark on its annual hiatus, but unlike previous years, it isn’t expected to return until Spring 2021 at the earliest. Are you sad to see Maisie Richardson-Sellers leave? Let us know in the comments below!
