Ruby Rose’s replacement on Batwoman season 2 revealed?
According to a new report Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan is being eyed to play Ryan Wilder on Batwoman Season 2.
Ruby Rose’s departure from Batwoman left the entertainment world in shock. Not only did that mean the new Arrowverse series was going to have to recast its lead, it meant there was a possibility that the Kate Kane character would have to be replaced in Batwoman season 2.
The speculation over the latter was confirmed by showrunner Caroline Dries herself, as she revealed that (with the help of Greg Berlanti), the creative team would be writing Kate out of the show and creating an original character named Ryan Wilder to become the second Scarlet Knight. And according to a new report, we may now know who that new Scarlet Knight is.
The Cinema Spot reports that Riverdale‘s Vanessa Morgan is indeed being eyed by The CW to play the role of Ryan Wilder/Batwoman in the show’s second season. It also suggests that Morgan will likely be auditioning for the role and doing a screen test with some of the regular actors on Batwoman.

Morgan has portrayed Toni Topaz on Riverdale for three years now. She was introduced in the show’s second season in a recurring role, before being upped to a series regular shortly thereafter. The character was a Southside Serpent, one of Jughead Jones’ best friends and she’s now part of the beloved Choni – the relationship between her and Cheryl Blossom.
She recently took to social media to highlight the pay gap between herself and the rest of her co-stars, adding that she was tired of black characters being portrayed in sidekick roles. Riverdale‘s EP issued a public apology on Twitter, promising that the show will do better.
While it hasn’t been confirmed that she’ll be replacing Ruby Rose, if the rumor turns out to be true, her experience with the network (through working on one of its biggest shows) is undoubtedly proof that she’d be up for the task of bringing Batwoman 2.0. to life.
