Batwoman season 2: 5 actresses that could replace Ruby Rose
With Ruby Rose and even Kate Kane out for Batwoman season 2, who’s coming in? Here are some potential replacements for both the character and actress for the show’s second season.
It’s been a wacky, surprising offseason in the television world and it’s not just because of how TV production was rocked by the novel coronavirus. Among the more shocking things to happen during this offseason, we learned last month that Ruby Rose, the titular star of Batwoman, will not be returning for a second season.
While she has made the “choice for now” (per her own words in a May 27 Instagram post) to remain silent on an exact reason for her exit, sources close to Variety have suggested that ultimately, it boiled down to Rose feeling overworked from long hours on the set.
Whatever the reason may be, Ruby Rose leaving the series – surprisingly – is not even the biggest nugget of news here. While we were originally under the impression that the role of Kate Kane would be recast, showrunner Caroline Dries has since confirmed that even Kane will be replaced.
An entirely new character named Ryan Wilder – which either could be a completely original character made for the show, or code for a yet-to-be-revealed character from the comics – will be taking over the mantle when The CW show returns to the airwaves.
Although the casting call for Wilder has already been put out, let’s put our own casting call of sorts out by speaking into existence some actresses we’d love to see as the new star of Batwoman season 2.
