Stephanie Beatriz

Taking a detour from the set of Brooklyn Nine-Nine over at NBC, Stephanie Beatriz was quick to tease fans by letting us know that she’s reading up on and preparing for a certain superhero role. Granted, with her name popping up prominently on social media, from the fact that fans just want to see her don the cowl, perhaps Beatriz was just teasing in good fun.

However, the tease was enough to get our minds going. While most of us would agree that her performances as Detective Rosa Diaz over the last seven or so years has proven that Beatriz has exactly what it takes to play a hard-edged action star, we do have a specific action star in mind: Renee Montoya.

Renee Montoya is a lesbian detective who often plays supporting player to Batman in the comics before becoming a superhero in her own right as The Question. Considering that this is the Arrowverse where even James “Jimmy” Olsen gets to be a high tech superhero, I think we should let the Batwoman showrunners take some liberties with the Montoya character.

Those liberties, hopefully, would be both putting her into Batwoman’s world and not as Batwoman’s sidekick, but as Batwoman herself. Oh, and let Beatriz play Montoya. That last one’s a big liberty The CW need to run with. Well, that part is less of a liberty and more like perfect casting.

Make it happen in Batwoman season 2!
