Sonya Deville

Although many readers (except maybe the wrestling fans, or reality show enthusiasts who watch Total Divas) may not be fully aware of who Sonya Deville is, the WWE Superstar was one of the first people to campaign for herself as Ruby Rose’s replacement. As fast as Rose announced her departure, Deville was just as quick to tweet the cast, crew, producers, and showrunners asking for a chance to play the part  in Batwoman season 2.

As a wrestler who punches people in the face every week for a living, Deville is no stranger to performing. And considering that Deville also has a legitimate background in Mixed Martial Arts, she can take a punch for real as well, meaning she has no problem doing her own stunts if need be.

The only knock against her may be that the actress behind Sonya Deville – Daria Berenato – only has five other acting credits to her name, all taking place between 2011 and 2013 (long before she ever even picked up a pair of boots). Whether the show’s execs are impressed with Deville’s in-ring work or not, it’d be hard to argue for an actress with no real movie/TV experience becoming the star of a superhero show watched by millions.

However, wrestlers like Dave Bautista and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson impressed us at the start of their Hollywood careers with strong blockbuster performances after having much less experience on their resume and look where they are now. Deville could very well have that same potential.
