Best: Rocket Raccoon
This list would be incomplete without giving a special shoutout to Rocket Raccoon for the work he’s put in to raise Groot. At first, they had a normal, almost brotherly bond. Then, in Groot sacrificing himself only to be literally reborn, everyone in the Guardians crew chipped in to raise the young sapling – particularly Rocket, who looked out for young Groot every step of the way.
Worst: Thanos
As this list goes to show, there are a lot of prime contenders for “worst father of the year” in the MCU, but probably none with as long a list of qualifications as Thanos. On top of sacrificing his own daughter – who technically isn’t even his daughter, since he basically ripped Gamora from her actual family and destroyed her home planet to boot, along with everyone on it – without thinking about it, he wiped out a hugefraction of the galaxy’s fathers, mothers and children.
Speaking of Gamora, did we also mention that he deprived both Gamora and her sister Nebula of any sense of a real childhood in favor of intensely training them into being his personal bodyguards?
Oh yes, Thanos needed his dad card revoked a long time ago. No Father’s Day gift for him this year, or any year.
