Ares

Wonder Woman was a huge success. 95% of the movie was nothing short of captivating. If not for that last 5%, this would have been the perfect movie. Among that 5% is the real villain behind everything going on: The God of War Ares. Considering the film was set during one of the World Wars, Ares was the smart choice. In that smart villain selection came a couple of awful decisions.

First, there’s the look. In the comic books, you almost never see Ares’ entire face. He’s hidden under his war helmet. All you usually see is darkness and those terrifying red eyes. Had they gone with this look, we would have been spared the terrible CGI face. He went from looking scary to downright sad.

Second, the final fight scene. It didn’t look like Wonder Woman was fighting the God of War, she was essentially fighting Magneto. Ares was just throwing stuff at her like a child having a tantrum.

Wonder Woman was facing the God of War. In the comic books, Diana took that mantle. While we could still see her as that title in the future, it would have been nice to see her destroy Ares with her bare hands. It could have further showcased her dominance and made the final fight that much more impactful.
