4. Let Henry Cavill be the Superman he’s capable of being

Henry Cavill started off this new cinematic universe after the overwhelming success of Christoper Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy (and a few failures like Green Lantern) but Man of Steel remains a divisive film.

Personally, this writer was a fan of the film, but Zack Snyder went too far with how brooding Superman is to the point that he and Batman shared similar personality traits.

The point is for Superman and Batman to be the yin to each other’s yang and vice versa. The themes of hope have been present, but Snyder’s Superman goes about it in a individualistic aspect rather than a utilitarian point of view.

Superman is meant to represent the best in us and does these good deeds because he is not only a good person but because it’s the right thing to do. A Superman with a nihilistic view of the world does not mesh well and, in many ways, defeats the purpose of the character.

There were hints of a changed Superman in Justice League, but resurrected, zombie Superman and bad CGI overtook any possible character development for the character.

It is up in the air as to whether Cavill will return as Superman. I think he should because he has shown in other projects that he can be charming and charismatic. Let him be that in a future DCEU installment. Let him be the Superman that he can be.
