Marvel: Can these MCU villains defeat the Mad Titan Thanos?
By Mark Lynch
Can any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe villains have defeated Thanos?
Thanos and his army dominated Earth’s heroes in Avengers: Infinity War. Let’s call it like it is. He had a plan and he executed to near-perfection.
However, once the playing field was even, the heroes won the day. Even then, it was a close call. Tony Stark had to sacrifice his life to win the war. There are a lot of factors that went into Earth’s victory, but, as Dr. Strange pointed out, they were the only Earth in this scenario that won.
It has long been debated which Marvel Cinematic Universe villain – if any of them – could have defeated the Mad Titan Thanos. Through social media posts, forums or just general fan discussion, it’s clear that everyone has an opinion on who would win.
Would Ultron and his horde of robots stand a chance in a battle against Thanos and his army? Could Surter take Thanos one-on-one? What about Hydra? Would any of them have had what it takes? The Kree have the numbers, but are they a threat? Well, this writer is here to tell you that none of them have a snowball’s chance in Hades of beating Thanos.
You probably assumed that this was going to be an article justifying how Thanos would lose to any of the previous villains. Sorry, but no. The Mad Titan’s dominance is well documented. Let’s make this simple before it’s broken down in detail. All of the villains that the MCU’s heroes faced lost individually. We’ve seen in all the movies – it took one film (and a few days give or take) for each hero to defeat their respective villains. Against Thanos, however, it was two movies (and over five years) before the heroes reclaimed their universe.
That said, there have been some formidable adversaries over the past decade, so let’s look at the some of them and see if they could stand a chance of defeating the Mad Titan.
