Stargirl’s latest villain could result in Courtney and the JSA taking a leave of absence. Our preview of “Shiv Part Two”.

Stargirl‘s first season will add another installment to its impressive resume when the eighth episode streams on DC Universe this Monday and airs on The CW this Tuesday.

The show has thus far seen Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) take on the mantle of Starman after the hero’s Cosmic Staff singled her out as its rightful owner. And as soon as she learned that her stepdad Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) was the hero’s sidekick – and that the aforementioned hero might be her father – she has attempted to seek out the Injustice Society of America.

Forming her own version of the JSA, Courtney recruited Yolanda Montez (Yvette Monreal), Beth Chapel (Anjelika Washington) and Rick Tyler (Cameron Gellman) to become the next iterations of Wildcat, Dr. Mid-Nite and Hourman. And after being rescued by Pat’s robotic alter-ego S.T.R.I.P.E. in a recent episode, it seemed that the Justice Society of America 2.0. is born.

However, things went awry in the latest installment when Courtney was so determined to prove herself that she ended up going it alone to track down Principal Bowin/The Fiddler II (Hina Khan) and unexpectedly crossed paths with Shiv a.k.a. Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy). And after a hard-fought battle, Stargirl suffered a severe wound only to be rescued by the Janitor.

Now, she faces the road to recovery, knowing that Shiv is out there.

What will happen in Stargirl season 1, episode 8?

As the trailer highlighted, it appears that the battle with Stargirl revealed to Cindy that Courtney is the one behind the blue mask. Now that might be speculation based on a number of well put-together clips, but it does seem like that’s the case.

More from Arrowverse

Whether that’s because of the fact that she heard Pat calling “Courtney” following their battle or the injuries that she sports during her recovery, it seems that – one way or another – Cindy knows.

Whatever Cindy decides to do with said information remains to be seen, but we do know that Stargirl and Shiv are destined for another showdown. However, that might not be the only obstacle Courtney faces this week.

In spite of the young hero’s optimism, Pat reminds her that nothing is worth her life… and it seems that this will force him to tell Barbara the truth about everything. Yes, everything.

Are Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E.’s JSA days numbered?

Want more? Check out The CW’s official synopsis for “Shiv Part Two” below:

"THE JSA GOES UNDERCOVER — After Courtney (Brec Bassinger) gets herself into some trouble following an unexpected confrontation, Pat (Luke Wilson) decides they need to come clean to Barbara (Amy Smart). Meanwhile, Cindy (Meg DeLacy) takes heat from her father after a plan to take matters into her own hands goes awry. Finally, Yolanda (Yvette Monreal), Beth (Anjelika Washington) and Rick (Cameron Gellman) lead an investigation into one of their own classmates."

Whatever goes down in Blue Valley next, it’s sure to be game-changing. With the rest of the Justice Society off on their own mission, and Courtney having to face the threat of Shiv (and perhaps even the wrath of her mother), you won’t want to miss “Shiv Part Two” as Stargirl rolls on.
