Stargirl had to face some consequences in “Shiv Part Two”, but the episode also revealed who the show’s new major villain is. Spoilers for Stargirl season 1, episode 8.

Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) has had her hands full as of late on her DC Universe series. Ever since putting on the Star-Spangled uniform and hitting the skies with the Cosmic Staff, she’s been determined to track down the Injustice Society of America.

What she didn’t realize was that, just like with the JSA, there is already a second generation of villainy in the works. Unfortunately, Courtney found that out the hard way last week when she went up against classmate Cindy Burman/Shiv (Meg DeLacy), who was revealed to be the daughter of the dreaded Dragon King (Nelson Lee).

However, she wasn’t the only second generation villain in this week’s installment.

Brainwave II is born on Stargirl

Ever since Henry King Sr. a.k.a. Brainwave (Christopher James Baker) was taken out by Stargirl, his son Henry King Jr. (Jake Austin Walker) has been struggling. While he understandably wants his father to recover, he’s also been struggling with the fact that he could temporarily hear other people’s thoughts. Yes, for a while there, it looked like Henry had inherited his father’s metahuman abilities.

This week’s episode, “Shiv Part Two”, confirmed that as Henry continued to struggle with the headaches, and when he attempted to dull them with painkillers, he realized that could he literally move the medication with his mind.

Following that, he discovered his father’s secret room in his office, his Brainwave outfit and documentation that confirmed Cindy was tasked with keeping an eye on him to figure out if he was “special”.

He later confronted Cindy – who was in mid-battle with Stargirl – and in all the commotion, he summoned a psychic attack that sent both of them flying in separate directions. And after that, he overheard a major secret from the mind of the Star-Spangled girl.

Yes, it seems that Brainwave II has been born  – psionic powers and all. It’s only a matter of time until Dragon King and the rest of the ISA attempt to recruit him, but how will he react when he discovers who his father really is?
