Will G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant see the return of Channing Tatum as Duke?

The question is, would the fourth G.I. Joe film ever see the return of Channing Tatum as Duke? It seems unlikely given how vocal the actor was about his distaste for the franchise.

In 2015, Venture Capital Post conducted an interview with Tatum, and he renounced his involvement with the film. He commented:

"“Look, I’ll be honest. I f—ing hate that movie… I didn’t want to do something that was 1) bad and 2) I didn’t know if I wanted to be G.I. Joe.”"

G.I. Joe: Retaliation saw the arrival of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who – since his appearance in the film – has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood today. An action movie star who has headlined countless blockbusters and found his way onto television as well, is it possible that the WWE legend reprises his role in the Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins movie?

Unlikely perhaps given that production has already been completed, but perhaps a cameo or a sign that he could return in the fourth movie? He has a pretty busy schedule always – with his long-teased Black Adam film rumored to begin production in the near-future – but anything is possible in Hollywood.

Though he is the “Most Electrifying Man in all of Entertainment”, this writer doesn’t believe Paramount should rely on his name alone to build the franchise’s success potential. I feel that is why Snake Eyes is the direction they have chosen to build towards.

Back to Channing Tatum; he did state that the previous script wasn’t any good but what if Ever Vigilant has a great script? Anything can happen, right? After all, if Michael Keaton can reprise his role as Batman don’t you think there is a good chance for Tatum to become Duke one more time. Explosions are really just an ironic way for characters to take a vacation, aren’t they?
