Batman Beyond and 5 other movies we’d like to see in the DCEU
Static Shock
The Static Shock character was first introduced to the world back in 1993 when he made his debut appearance in the first issue release of Static. However, he especially gained popularity by headlining his very own self-titled WB animated series in the early 2000s – something that led to the character’s subsequent appearances in shows like Justice League and Young Justice.
What especially made Static such an endearing addition to the Saturday morning cartoon block was less his wisecracking nature and more so the brave subject matter of the show’s episodes. Every episode tackled heavy topics for a kids show, including gang violence, bullying, and racism.
Many of these subjects are particularly relevant in the context of our current global climate and would hit just as hard in 2020 as they did in 2000. All things considered, now may be the perfect time for Warner Bros. to adapt Static Shock for the big screen.
James Tucker, who served as a director for Static Shock, tweeted back in 2017 that there was interest from the studio to make a movie about Static, but no immediate plans were made. Well Warner Bros., now is the perfect time to put those plans into action.
