A new rumor states that Hayden Christensen will be back in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show that’s set to debut on Disney Plus.

Rumours surrounding Star Wars properties are endless, especially regarding the much-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The latest rumor from LRM Online reports that Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker and that he will be a regular on the Disney Plus show, not just a cameo.

There has been no official announcement from Disney. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has had a rocky road in pre-production, with changes behind-the-scenes delaying filming.

How much truth there is to this rumor of Christensen’s return remains to be seen.

The show is set to focus on Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi following the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of Palpatine’s Empire. After dueling Anakin, Kenobi went into hiding on Tatooine, in part to keep an eye on Anakin’s son, Luke Skywalker, as well as to learn the ability to become a Force Ghost from Kenobi’s former Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. We can assume that the show will spotlight Kenobi’s trials on the desert planet, which may be similar to those faced by Yoda in the sixth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

During this post-prequel era, Anakin Skywalker has already become Darth Vader, who is voiced by James Earl Jones. How does Christensen fit into this? Flashbacks are always a possibility, especially considering Disney’s superb de-aging technology.

Another way for Anakin to feature regularly on the show is through Force visions. These visions have been powerful indicators of a Jedi’s internal strife, and Kenobi’s subconscious could very well conjure his former ‘brother’.

There are undoubtedly many fans who would love to see Christensen reprise his Star Wars role again. Several prequel actors received a lot of hate during and after the films, but time has allowed them to heal and reconnect with the franchise. The popularity of the Star Wars animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars has also seen a resurgence of love for the prequel trilogy.

It would be exciting to see Christensen return to the franchise. Kenobi and Anakin’s decades-long history together as Master and Padawan would add more dynamism to Kenobi’s character arc. Let’s hope that this rumour comes to fruition.
