Is the Justice Society of America about to get a new recruit in the fight against Dragon King in the next episode of Stargirl?

Stargirl has done a fantastic job of keeping viewers hooked throughout its entire first season. We’re almost 10 episodes into the DC Universe series and we’re all still fully invested in Courtney Whitmore’s journey to superheroism as she forms her own iteration of the Justice Society of America.

Courtney (Brec Bassinger) has been joined by her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she recruited Yolanda Montez (Yvette Monreal) to be the second Wildcat, Rick Tyler (Cameron Gellman) to become the second Hourman and Beth Chapel (Anjelika Washington) to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Mid-Nite. However, the JSA could be about to get another new hero.

What could end up leading to such a turn in “Brainwave Jr.”? Well, it could have something to do with the gang’s impending battle against Dragon King/Dr. Ito (Nelson Lee) in next week’s episode.

Watch the episode’s trailer below:

What will happen in Stargirl season 1, episode 10?

As the trailer highlighted, “Brainwave Jr.” will deal with the fallout of the previous episode as Courtney and Pat will have to face the music of Barbara’s (Amy Smart) discovery of the Cosmic Staff and somehow convince her that the presence of the Justice Society of America is very much needed in Blue Valley.

Whatever the outcome of that, the JSA will ride again as the team descends into the depths of the Burman household where they will inevitably come across Dragon King – leading to a battle between him and Stargirl. Will they find and locate Cindy (Meg DeLacy) while they’re down there?

Someone who is noticeably absent from the trailer is the episode’s titular star: Henry King Jr./Brainwave Jr. (Jake Austin Walker)… or is he? While the clip doesn’t feature any of the fallout in regards to his father, Brainwave himself (Christopher James Baker), waking from his coma (or the fact that Henry used his abilities to kill someone), Henry does make a cameo appearance with the JSA in the tunnels.

Does he come to the aid of trapped girlfriend Cindy/Shiv – who is being held captive by her father Dragon King – or does he overcome his darkness and decide to join the Justice Society? The two things could end up going hand-in-hand and perhaps even lead to Cindy doing a 180 as well and joining the side of the heroes, but that remains to be seen. Nonetheless, the episode’s synopsis teases him making a difficult choice… does he choose good over evil?

Want another little snippet? Check out The CW’s official synopsis for “Brainwave Jr.” below:

"LET ME START AT THE BEGINNING — As Henry Jr. (Jake Austin Walker) hones his newfound skills, uncovered secrets from his family’s past force him to make a difficult decision. Meanwhile, Courtney (Brec Bassinger), Yolanda (Yvette Monreal), Beth (Anjelika Washington) and Rick’s (Cameron Gellman) latest plan brings them face to face with a member of the ISA. Finally, tensions between Pat (Luke Wilson) and Barbara (Amy Smart) force her to revisit her own past."

With a battle brewing between the JSA and the Dragon King, and Pat and Barbara set to have a major history-fueled conversation, it’s looking like “Brainwave Jr.” could be Stargirl‘s most pivotal episode yet.
