In honor of FanSided’s theme week, our sites come together this month to acknowledge the impressive career of Christopher Nolan. For Bam Smack Pow, it only seems apropos to honor him by taking another look at his Batman trilogy, specifically the franchise closer Dark Knight Rises, which is having its eight-year anniversary this year on Jul. 20.

Understandably, most due in part to how the film rode into theaters on the shoulders of high expectations from two monumental steps forward for the superhero movie genre, The Dark Knight Rises tends to divide audiences. It’s a movie that fans either love or they hate.

But if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it is that we can appreciate the hard work and dedication put into the film. Enough thought and care was put into the actual filmmaking aspect of the movie, especially on behalf of Nolan himself, that we need to give him his flowers for today. Especially for all of the most interesting aspects about the movie that most of the public may not even know about.
