Leader

Cyclops has been the X-Men’s leader since the beginning. There have been plenty of leaders in between, but he’s been the most consistent. In fact, he may be the best in Marvel Comics.

He has a knack for getting the best out of his team. He’s especially good in the clutch. You can look at stories like Astonishing X-Men: Unstoppable, Messiah Complex, and Second Coming as examples. When things are at their darkest, Cyclops steps up and gets things done. He excels at this. It’s like the less amount of time he has to make a decision, the better he is.

This was the biggest problem with Cyclops in the movies. He wasn’t a leader. He was just there. At no point did it seem like he was in charge. It was like the writers didn’t know who he was.

Going forward, Marvel Studios should establish him as the X-Men’s commander in the field- maybe even overall. As important as Professor Xavier is, Cyclops is the one that the X-Men trust to do the right thing. Especially after finding out about all the terrible things Xavier has done.

When the MCU’s X-Men show up, we need him to show the world why he’s in charge of Earth’s Mightiest Mutants.
