Seemingly cold-hearted

You may look at this section and think that it’s a slight. It’s not. Cyclops has seen a lot of his friends and family members hurt and killed in battle. Sometimes it isn’t in battle. After House of M, he watched as former students were killed just because they used to be mutants. He’s seen the worst of what humanity has to offer and it’s hardened him. He understands the unfortunate reality of going into a war. People are going to get hurt and some of them are going to die. It makes him appear like he’s detached from his emotions, but he does it with a heavy heart.

This may seem like a negative trait, but it’s a necessary one. This is one of the things that separates him from Captain America and Reed Richards. Cyclops and the X-Men don’t have the luxury of having S.H.I.E.L.D. or any of the other teams and heroes coming to their rescue. It’s them against the world. Since this is the case, Cyclops has to make tough decisions. When the battle is over, Cyclops takes the time necessary to mourn. However, when the fight is going on, he holds in his emotions and gets the job done.
