Hawkgirl – Adria Arjona

Black Adam could set the stage for the DCEU’s introduction Hawkgirl. In the comics, Hawkgirl plays a major role in the origins of Black Adam, so it’s nice to see Johnson and Collet-Serra dig deep into Adam’s origins. But this isn’t the first time the DC hero will be portrayed in live-action.

Fans of the Arrowverse have already seen this hero portrayed in live-action by Latina actress, Ciara Renée. On The CW’s The Flash (and a crossover episode of Arrow), Renee played Kendra Saunders, a reincarnated of the Egyptian high priestess Chay-Ara. She then went on to star in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Like the comics, she had an attachment to her soulmate, Hawkman, but she was more independent of their destined love. Black Adam, however, will likely depict a story that is truer to the comics between the soulmates.

However, like the Arrowverse, the DCEU is rumored to be looking for an actress between the ages of 20 and 30 to play the role. One actress who should be on their radar is Adria Arjona. Aside from the 28-year old actress fitting the age range, she’s already got her foot in the comic book movie door. Arjona will star alongside Jared Leto in Sony’s Morbius.

The DCEU isn’t shy about putting their money behind female superheroes. Hawkgirl could be one of them. Arjona is a star thanks to her roles in 6 Underground and the Amazon series, Good Omens. She could very well help make Hawkgirl a more mainstream character.
