The Flash – Joel Edgerton

All versions of The Flash hold a special place in every DC fan’s heart, especially the man wearing the tin hat. Jay Garrick is the man who started it all, the first nerd to accidentally grant himself super-speed. But Garrick wasn’t your typical geek; he was a great athlete who excelled in football. This brings us to Joel Edgerton, who is the epitome of the cool geek.

For starters, he’s played a schoolteacher that fights his way through a mixed martial arts tournament in Warrior. And he’s no stranger to the comic book world either. Edgerton recently starred as a Russian CIA operative in Red Sparrow. Both of these examples lend themselves nicely to the 46-year-old actor’s dramatic side. However, if you watch him play the Org on Netflix’s Bright, you’ll see his comedic side.

Edgerton, as Black Adam’s Jay Garrick, would be capable of providing the film with that veteran leadership that a JSA founder needs to posses. If Black Adam follows the comics, Garrick and Adam will undoubtedly disagree on the League’s heroic moral code. Edgerton’s commanding presence will make the film stand out for much more than just its action scenes.

Seeing the Rock and Edgerton on-screen at the time the same would definitely make for some interesting scenes. The DCEU could take this casting a step further by giving Edgerton’s Jay Garrick a spin-off film, and no one would be mad at them for it.
