Funny (and slightly annoying)

The Iceman that we saw in the first three X-Men movies (and again in X-Men: Days of Future Past) was nothing like the one we know from the comics.

Shawn Ashmore did a great job with the role, but the character’s personality was dull. He was just a mutant with Iceman’s powers with the same code-name. Not only was he bland, he was quite forgettable.

He may have had a few moments in three movies that are worth mentioning but the Iceman from the comic books should have had more than that. It wasn’t just the action, he wasn’t very entertaining. What’s a bigger travesty is that he may have only made one or two jokes throughout the entire run of the X-Men movies.

Iceman has to be funny. He doesn’t have to bounce off the walls and lack serious moments, but the comical comments are part of what makes people love him. Picture Iceman making bad jokes like Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin. In that movie, it doesn’t work because that’s not who Victor Fries is. In an X-Men story, however, it fits like a glove – and it would fit even more so in the MCU.

Everything about Bobby’s jokes are everything that people already love about the MCU. He can have his moments of seriousness, but hit you with a joke because things got too uncomfortable for him. He’s the perfect balance to a team that has Wolverine and Cyclops.
