The Umbrella Academy: 7 things we hope to see in Season 3
Is Grace Alive?
One of the high points of season 2 was seeing Jordan Claire Robbins in a somewhat expanded – compared to how small her role during the first season was – supporting role as Grace. Season 2 showed us what a human, pre-robotic version of Grace looks and sounds like and she’s – surprise, surprise – just as warm and kind as the old Grace.
The kind of warmth that Robbins brought to the table offered a refreshing break from the usual madness and chaos. It would be hugely welcome in season 3, which doesn’t sound too off from being a possibility.
With so much changed already in the timeline, don’t be surprised if Grace pops up alive, not a robot, and maybe looking a little older in the present day, especially given she left Reggie after finding out about his shady operations. Along with other changes in the timeline, maybe leaving Reginald extended her life by a few decades.
Lila’s Redemption Arc
The final minutes of the season saw Lila finally learn the truth about her dear old “mom,” moments before watching her get blown to bits by one of the gunmen manipulated by her. Understandably, the whole thing was a little too overwhelming for her and she took a briefcase to teleport to who knows where.
Before Five rewound time, Lila confided to The Handler that, if nothing else, she viewed The Umbrella Academy as her family. It’s clear that beneath everything she’s been manipulated into thinking, Lila is capable of being a good person, understanding a moral code, and most of all, loving her peers.
She still has a long way to go, both when it comes to accepting herself and to get the rest of the team to accept her as one of them. That could make for a wonderful redemption arc, especially for fans of the character who want to see Lila emerge as the hero of this story.
