Black Panther: Sins of the King  will be releasing in January 2021, and it was produced by audiobook publisher Serial Box. This news was previously reported on by The Hollywood Reporter.

Besides Shuri and Okoye, THR says that other characters familiar to MCU viewers include Luke Cage‘s Misty Knight and James Rhodes/War Machine. Harper said in a press release:

"“I remember seeing Black Panther in the theater and just being giddy about how many kids like me will have this be one of their first and formative sci-fi experiences, and how open they will be to seeing all kinds of people inhabiting these worlds as they grow older, which is why I am thrilled to be a part of this project.”"

The storyline of this adventure thriller will follow T’Challa dealing with the resurrection of his father thanks to the evildoings of a villain, and also promises “dark forces seeking revenge from the past.”

Other Serial Box-created Marvel content includes Black Widow: Bad Blood, Jessica Jones: Playing with Fire, and Thor: Metal Gods.

Sins of the King’s lead writer is Ira Madison, with others involved in the writing include Tananarive Due, Steven Barnes, Geoffrey Thorne and Mohale Mashigo. Madison said in a press release:

"“Sci-fi and fantasy have long explored the relationship between sons and fathers, but I thought an all-Black writing team would be uniquely equipped to tell a powerful story about Black sons and fathers, one that normally goes untold in the world of superhero stories.”"

William Jackson Harper is best known for portraying the worrywart ethics professor Chidi Anagonye on the NBC sitcom The Good Place, but got his first big break as the villainous rebus-loving Danny Scrambler on the 2009 PBS reboot of The Electric Company.

The Electric Company also starred Agents of SHIELD‘s Coy Stewart, and had Lin-Manuel Miranda as part of the musical team.

Harper has also appeared in the 2019 horror movie Midsommar, as well as guest appearances on various crime dramas.

In MCU movie news, Black Panther II is scheduled to release as part of Phase 4 on May 6, 2022.
