The Flash season 7 arrives next year but the first trailer debuted at DC FanDome and we’re in for one heck of a ride.

The Flash season 7 won’t be hitting screens until January 2021 at the earliest. However, that hasn’t stopped the cast, crew and The CW from teasing fans with what the Arrowverse series has in store for them when it does (through DC FanDome).

Cast members Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight spoke to showrunner Eric Wallace at the DC event about what fans can expect from the new season.

They also took the opportunity to unveil a brand new trailer for the show’s seventh offering.

As seen in the trailer, the beginning of the season will pick up exactly where season 6 left off. Though the gang haven’t been able to film any new footage for the show’s seventh season yet, a vast portion of the premiere has already been completed as it was originally intended to serve as the sixth installment’s 20th episode (before production was understandably shut down).

From what we can see, it’s safe to say that season 7 is set to kick things off strong. Eva McCulloch’s (Efrat Dor) reign of terror as Mirror Master will continue as Team Flash attempt to figure out how to stop her.

More from Arrowverse

While she’s proven herself to be a formidable rival, the biggest problem is the fact that Barry Allen has lost his speed and won’t be able to use it to stop her. As a result, he reaches out to Chester P. Runk to help him create a new Speed Force.

Meanwhile, Cecile will step into a new era with her own powers as she meets with an old enemy of the Scarlet Speedster’s.

The biggest story, however, is the fact that the trailer confirms that Iris West-Allen is still very much alive. Though the season 6 finale made it appear that something terrible happened to her (when she vanished in the Mirrorverse), the crafty reporter has survived.

However, she will begin to struggle once more with the neural dissonance as she meets both previous and future versions of herself – setting up a scenario that allows Candice Patton to give us what looks to be an outstanding performance.
