In recent years, Hawkman has appeared in the Arrowverse and Smallville. He is also slated to show up in Black Adam, but did you know he almost made a physical appearance in the pilot episode of Stargirl?

Stargirl’s debut season was nothing short of amazing with its relatable story, incredible characters and the justice that the DC Universe show did to the legacy it was created from.

In the pilot episode “Stargirl'”, we were introduced to the original Justice Society of America while they were in combat with their evil counterparts, the Injustice Society of America. There were also constant mentions of the late team from its sole survivor, Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson), the sidekick of Starman (Joel McHale). In one episode, the former Stripesy mentioned to his stepdaughter Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) that Hawkman and Hawkgirl were both members of the group.

As reported by Full Circle Cinema, in a recent interview on the Stargirl Facebook Group some of the actors who brought the ISA to life revealed that Hawkman was originally meant to appear in the pilot episode.

Background Information on Hawkman

Making his debut in 1940 in Flash Comics #1 and created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville, there have been a number of iterations of Hawkman over the years. The reason for the many changes in appearance is because he can resurrect as someone else after he dies.

Carter Hall is the version of Hawkman seen in the JSA photo taken by Pat as mentioned in his conversation with Courtney. While he is not mentioned by his civilian name, he is the most famous of all his incarnations.

Hawkman and his role in Stargirl

We don’t see Hawkman at all in Stargirl outside of the team photo. However, in the interview, the actors behind the ISA; Eric Goins (The Gambler), Neil Jackson (Icicle) Hina Khan (The Fiddler II), Neil Hopkins (Sportsmaster), Joy Osmanski (Tigress), Christopher James Baker (Brainwave), Joe Knezevich (The Wizard) and Nelson Lee (Dragon King) revealed there were shots cut from the opening fight scene.

Jackson revealed that there was going to be shot where Hawkman swoops by just as Pat is running into the building to find Sylvester. The cast also mentioned that there were other shots that did not make it into the episode and its unknown why they were dropped from the scene.

For now, we’re in the dark as to whether the Hawks are now other people since 10 years past between the JSA vs. ISA fight and the main events of the pilot. It takes time for Hawkman and Hawkgirl to reincarnate and whether a decade is enough for this to happen is debatable.
