The Umbrella Academy: 5 best moments of season 2
Five’s Murder Spree
It should probably go without saying that there is a whole lot of murdering going on during the second season. For a pop soundtrack tuned show about a bunch of troublesome superpowered siblings who can’t get along (featuring a talking monkey and some robots, no less), The Umbrella Academy is deceptively gruesome.
Still, for any of us squeamish folks who walked out of the first season thinking that season 1 was a little too bloody to stomach, the producers kindly decided to stomp us in the face with a mallet. Proverbially, of course. At least that’s what it feels like when we spring into the opening scene of “Oga for Oga,” the seventh episode of the season.
The episode wasted little to no time plunging us into a full on bloodbath when Five went about his mission to take out every single member of The Commission’s Board. It is a scene that manages to be in equal parts horrifying and oddly amusing (laced with dark humor), which is incredibly impressive.
In fact, if there was ever one scene that we could use summarize the entire show, it would probably be this one. Absurd, uncomfortably funny and uncomfortably bloody all at once. Just like both seasons of The Umbrella Academy.
