Ben Saves The Day (and Vanya)

Justin H. Min’s role as Ben was elevated in season 2 from recurring character to a bona fide member of the main cast. Min certainly proved that he belonged in every episode of the season by offering some of those show’s best moments, thanks in due part to his chemistry with Robert Sheehan’s Klaus.

The only downside to Min’s role is that since he’s a ghost that only Klaus can see and interact with, there is not a lot of room for variety for him throughout the season. Pretty much all of Ben’s scenes range from either him trying to play Klaus’ conscience or saying something snarky behind his back.

However, Min finally was given a dramatic moment to shine in the penultimate episode of the season. When Diego, Allison and Klaus all failed to stop Vanya’s unmitigated onslaught, it was Ben who arrived to save the day, but at a price as he had to sacrifice himself. His final moments with Vanya gave the season some of its most gut-wrenching seconds. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the tears were a falling.

Thankfully, as we learned from the final moment of the season, this won’t be the last we see of Ben or of Justin H. Min.
