The Umbrella Academy: 5 best moments of season 2
Family Supper
How was this not going to take the top spot? Okay, sure, to be fair, this one is neck and neck with that dance scene, but besides just being entertaining, the significance of this scene in itself holds enough weight to preserve the number one spot.
With Reginald Hargreeves spending much of the first season dead, this was the first time we actually got the whole gang together; all of the siblings with their father. There was a lot of hype throughout the episode preceding this inevitable meeting, and boy, it did not disappoint.
Even though it goes more or less exactly how you’d expect (with the siblings falling over their face trying to win daddy’s approval, only for the latter to be totally unimpressed), the execution of it all was just wholly hilarious. Not to mention, it gave us a glimpse into where The Umbrella Academy were as a unit, psychologically. No matter how much they claimed to hate their old man, even far removed from attending his funeral, they still jumped at the chance for his approval in some way or another.
Also, it’s worth giving an honorable mention to the post-supper conversation between Five and Hargreeves, which thanks to a masterful performance from Aidan Gallagher (which I gush about even further here) truly felt like a conversation between two old, wise and tired elders.
