The Walking Dead to end with season 11; Two spin-offs coming
The end is nigh for The Walking Dead, but fans can look forward TWO spin-offs in the future.
The Walking Dead has been a regular presence on TV screens for a decade. The long-running AMC zombie apocalypse series followed Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as he awoke from a coma to find the world looking a little bit different to how he remembered it and it has been gripping fans ever since. However, AMC has confirmed that the show will finish up its run after an extended 24-episode 11th season.
The first 12 episodes will air during 2021 with the second arriving in 2022. All is not lost, though, as the cable service has also reportedly greenlit TWO spin-offs. The first will focus on original cast members Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and be produced by TWD‘s showrunner Angela Kang.
The second is known as Tales of The Walking Dead and will be an anthology offshoot overseen by Gimple that will focus on standalone episodes or arcs set within the universe and may feature characters we’ve already met before.
Many believed the writing was on the wall after series star Andrew Lincoln left the show, revealing that he would return for a planned trilogy of Rick Grimes-centric movies. After his departure, it was revealed that Danai Gurira – who plays Michonne – was also leaving.
The Walking Dead universe grows without The Walking Dead
These two spin-offs will mark the fourth and fifth installments set within The Walking Dead universe. The original series certainly captivated fans, and it eventually spawned Fear The Walking Dead and the soon-to-debut The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

Daryl and Carol are two of the show’s all-time most popular characters – and they certainly are the most popular on the show at the moment – so it goes without saying that fans would love to see them star in a spin-off.
As for the other spin-off, the idea of an anthology series sounds incredibly exciting because, even with multiple TV and film spin-offs in play, there is so much of this universe to explore.
