Marvel: 5 things we must see from the X-Men’s Dark Phoenix Saga in the MCU

Here’s how the Marvel Cinematic Universe can make a proper Dark Phoenix project.
The Dark Phoenix story didn’t work for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. Honestly, it’s been tragic.
The first attempt technically started in X2: X-Men United. There were little hints of Jean Grey becoming the Phoenix and confirmation in the end when we saw the Phoenix silhouette in the water. Then, X-Men: The Last Stand debuted. It was an awful interpretation of the Phoenix.
Next up, the seeds were sown in X-Men: Apocalypse as, again, we got a glimpse of the Phoenix. Then, Dark Phoenix was released and we were disappointed yet again.
Two Dark Phoenix projects and they were both failures. Thankfully, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now at the wheel and can turn things around.
We should have faith in the MCU. They’ve consistently given us projects that, on paper, shouldn’t necessarily work, but end up being great anyway. For example, Ant-Man was an unanticipated success and he’s now a beloved character and was even a crucial part of Avengers: Endgame. T
he success of the Dark Phoenix Saga is important. If this fails a third time, moviegoers will doubt that this is something that can work in a movie format at all. As a comic book fan, this writer knows this isn’t true. The story has an abundance of qualities that proves it could work.
