The Shi’ar

The D’Bari do have relevance when it comes to the Phoenix. They were among the planets the Dark Phoenix destroyed when she consumed a sun. It still doesn’t excuse them being used in Dark Phoenix. Even the most well-versed Marvel Comics fans were confused by this selection.

Regardless of the reason, it was foolish. Especially when you consider their powers. There was no consistency to what they could do. Different strength levels and powers. If they were going with beings with multiple powers, why not use the Shi’ar? Especially considering that’s how it happened in the source material.

On top of them being the villains in the comics, they would have worked better on-screen. Their looks, personalities, and powers all differed. Instead of that, we were given forgettable goons in a dark fight scene. Fans would have loved seeing the Shi’ar fight the X-Men. If we didn’t remember their names, we wouldn’t have forgotten their costumes. It would have helped differentiate between one person to the next. Even if it was in the dark on a train.

Marvel Studios will undoubtedly make this happen should they adapt the arc. Thanos’ Black Order was necessary in Avengers: Infinity War. They helped establish Thanos as a leader and make the Avengers look strong. The Shi’ar can do this for the X-Men.
