Batman: White Knight

Remaining on the theme, we have one more Joker story. Although, this one isn’t like any of the others. In this tale, Joker is the hero.

This is the story of how Joker became the savior of Gotham City. Yes, you read that correctly. Joker helped make Gotham City safer. The big kicker is that this wasn’t a trick. Joker was cured of his crazy ways and turned over a new leaf. There is a lot that went into it, but the result remains the same. Where’s Batman during all of this? Not doing himself any favors. While Joker is becoming a hero, Batman is becoming a villain.

Batman: White Knight was a long, but enjoyable read. Doing this as an animated feature may take more than a couple of movies – especially if it’s going to be done right. You can’t skip corners with this.

Everything that happens serves a purpose. In the beginning, we have Joker (now Jack Napier) being cured and clearing his name. Next, Batman loses everything from his friends to his freedom. Lastly, we have the ending. This writer won’t say what happens because it will spoil the surprise. The MVPs of this story are Jack and Harley. Together, they made Gotham safer and became a real, loving couple in the process. And it would be fascinating to watch this play out in animated form.
