Following months of rumors, Harley Quinn has been renewed for a third season. However, the fate of DC’s exclusive streaming service, the DC Universe, has now been revealed.

DC’s exclusive streaming service, the DC Universe, has raised eyebrows for some time now. The platform was designed as a streaming library full of DC and Warner Bros.’ classic programming, films and comic books that also produced its own original programming, but it didn’t take long before its lack of availability outside of the U.S. caused controversy.

With the arrival of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max and its acquisition of almost all DCU shows, it soon became apparent that the future of the streamer was in doubt. Doom Patrol was allowed to stream on both services at once while Stargirl was allowed to do the same with The CW (before moving there full time for season 2). And with that, it seemed bleak for the DCU. That is, until now.

DC Universe becomes DC Universe Infinite

In an official press release from the DC Universe, it has been confirmed that the current iteration of the DCU will cease to exist and that, on January 21, it will evolve into DC Universe Infinite.

More from DC Universe

DC Universe Infinite is set to be a digital comic book subscription service that will kick off with over 24000 comic books available. Following that, it will provide digital-first comic books, offer subscribers exclusive access to DC fan events and upload recently-released comics six months after the physical versions hit shelves.

As for its original programming, that is believed to be moving to HBO Max. Speaking of which…

Harley Quinn season 3 is happening

After months of speculation, it has now been confirmed that Harley Quinn has been renewed for a third season that is set to stream exclusively on HBO Max.

The beloved animated series quickly became the most well-received series on DC Universe and remained in limbo for sometime as the-powers-that-be figured out how they were going to proceed with the service.

Now we know it will be exclusive to HBO Max, where it will be joined by the third seasons of both Doom Patrol and Titans.

It’s undoubtedly the end of an era for DC Universe, but it’s also the beginning of an exciting new one for both it and HBO Max.
