WandaVision drops its first trailer and it’s as bonkers as we hoped
The first trailer for Disney Plus’ WandaVision dropped during the Emmys and it promises to take the MCU in unique and unexpected directions.
It’s almost fitting that what might just be the most unique Emmy Awards ceremony in history unveiled the first look at what is undoubtedly going to be one of the most unique TV shows in history. Yes, it’s true, the first trailer for WandaVision is here.
The upcoming Disney+ series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s only one of a slew of MCU installments the streamer plans to release, as it will eventually be joined by Ms. Marvel, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, She-Hulk and Loki. But while we have something of an inkling as to what those shows could be about, WandaVision remains something of a mystery.
The funny thing is that the trailer only perpetuates that.

As expected, the trailer kicks off by portraying the show as a classic sitcom, with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) back together again, living what seems to be their best life in domestic bliss as husband and wife in the ’50s or the ’60s.

From the domestic setting, vintage clothing, Vision’s business suit and Wanda’s magic, the trailer pays tribute to the supernatural sitcoms of days gone by, most notably Bewitched. But just like in that legendary show, when the happy couple are asked about their lives, it becomes clear there are secrets. The difference here is that neither Wanda nor Vision seem to be aware of what they’re doing there or how they got there.
There’s definitely an overarching sense of intrigue from the trailer that makes it rather hard to follow, but that’s also its most appealing quality. WandaVision is set to break the norm and give the MCU the opportunity to explore new genres and this intentionally confusing masterpiece of a trailer promises great things for the series.
WandaVision is expected to drop on Disney Plus in December 2020.
