Smallville star suffers life-changing injury and here’s how you can help
Veteran actor Michael Hogan – who appeared as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in Smallville – suffered a head injury earlier this year, and here’s how you can help him.
Michael Hogan is a veteran of his craft. He’s best-known for his performance as Colonel Saul Tigh in Battlestar Galactica – a role he played for five years on the show and reprised in various spin-offs. He’s also known to younger audiences for his work on Teen Wolf as the villainous Gerard Argent and he also appeared in Smallville as iconic DC Comics character Slade Wilson/Deathstroke.
Unfortunately, the legendary performer suffered a serious head injury earlier this year. As revealed on a GoFundMe page set up during the weekend, he was participating in a Battlestar Galactica convention in Vancouver back in February when, at dinner, “he fell and hit his head. Hard”.
The statement, written by Hogan’s wife Susan, revealed that he went to bed that night unaware that he’d sustained a serious injury and couldn’t be woken the following morning. He was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital where emergency surgery was performed.
Hogan has been left with life-changing injuries as a result of the massive bleed on his brain, suffering “complete paralysis on his left side, memory loss, cognitive impairment and an inability to swallow”.
A GoFundMe page has been launched to help his wife Susan with the costs of his care – which you can donate to here.
A number of Hogan’s co-stars from his various roles over the years have shared their support for the veteran, encouraging fans to help his family with the fundraiser.
Hogan has amassed an incredible career and, alongside appearing in the aforementioned TV shows, has also lent his talents to films The Peanut Butter Solution, Red Riding Hood and Sonic The Hedgehog.
It goes without saying that we will all keep Michael Hogan and his family in our thoughts and send them so much love at this challenging time.
