Supergirl Season 6: Six characters who should return for the final season
By Monita Mohan
6. Mon-El
Mon-El (Chris Wood) was a terrible boyfriend. Introduced as a foil for Kara Danvers and a love interest, the former prince of Daxam was a hot mess from start to finish. He lied to Kara, disrespected her wishes, and was a general trope walking on two legs.
The best thing to happen to Mon-El was his heroic sacrifice that sent him to the future and effectively banished him from Planet Earth. His return in Season 3 as the mellow leader of the Legion of Superheroes provided excellent growth for both Mon-El and Kara.
It’s not often we see characters interact post-break-up in pop culture, but the Arrowverse has shown that adults do not necessarily dissolve into fisticuffs every time they meet an ex. Mon-El’s life in the future gave him the perspective to realize that he may not have been the right partner for Kara.
Ever since Mon-El’s reappearances have been a welcome addition to Supergirl. While we wouldn’t want him to remain on Earth-Prime, Mon-El is great in a fight and his history with Kara allows him to help her objectively.
And, lest we forget, Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist are married in real-life, and a Supergirl send-off wouldn’t be complete without these two actors sharing screen time on the show that brought them together.
